The company behind Grand Theft Auto buys Zynga, one of the biggest mobile game companies

The creator of Farmville, Words With Friends and many other mobile games has been acquired by Take Two, the distributor of the GTA saga.

Tawe Twothe distributor of games from the Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, NBA 2K, BioShock series and many other successful sagas, has reached an agreement to acquire Zyngaone of the most successful mobile game creation companies in the world, behind franchises such as the legendary Farmville, Words With Friends or Zynga Poker.

The purchase will make Take Two the owner of all outstanding shares of Zynga, at a price of $9.86 per share. which is equivalent to a total of $12.7 billion.

There is no doubt that mobile platforms are going to be an essential part of the video game industry in the next decade, and it is not surprising that top-tier companies like Take Two decide to enter this segment.

With the purchase of Zynga, Take Two becomes one of the first companies in the world As far as the publication of games for mobile platforms is concerned, by having the huge repertoire of Zynga titles.

Among Zynga’s most popular titles, you can find some big names, such as CSR Racing, Empires & Puzzles, FarmVille, Golf Rival, Hair Challenge, Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells, High Heels!, Merge Dragons!, Toon Blast, Toy Blast, Words With Friends and Zynga Poker.

The association should not surprise those who remain more or less aware of the movements of the video game industry, especially in its branch focused on mobile platforms.
