With the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 something quite curious has happened. They were launched last year in China with MediaTek processors, and have reached the global market this year with Qualcomm processors that objectively offer inferior performance. Why did Xiaomi make this change? Probably because of the bad reputation that MediaTek has in the West. However… Does that mean that the Redmi Note 11 in the Global version have a worse quality / price ratio?
To find out, let’s analyze the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, which is the most powerful mobile in the series and the only one with 5G. It has a price close to €300, so it competes in a range where there are many attractive quality / price smartphones on the market right now. Is it the best option of all? Let’s find out…

If we compare it with its predecessor, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G does not offer many improvements. Its fast charge is twice as fast and mounts a slightly more powerful processor with 5G. However, it loses the depth sensor in the camera (although it supplies it through software) and maintains Android 11 as the factory operating system despite making the jump to MIUI 13.
While its performance is impeccable in everyday use, we find it a bit disappointing for a €300 mobile from Xiaomi. The same could be said of its rear camera, which is quite normal. The best of mobile? Its 120 Hz AMOLED screen and its long-lasting 5000 mAh battery that charges at 67 W in minutes.

The design of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is identical to that of all the other phones in this series. Don’t expect something very premium, but ergonomic even though the device is huge. It measures 164.2 mm long and 76.1 wide. Its thickness does not exceed 8.1 mm and it has a great grip thanks to its flat edges, similar to those of the iPhone 13.
The body is made of a solid metal chassis with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front protecting the screen, and with a anti-fingerprint matte finish on the back that looks great. It has two speakers (one above and one below) that provide powerful and defined stereo sound, a 3.5 mm headphone jack (on the top) and a USB-C port (on the bottom).
It also includes an infrared emitter on top to control certain devices in your home (such as the TV or air conditioning), as well as a tray on the bottom edge to insert two SIM cards or one SIM + one micro SD. On the right side it has the buttons to control the volume and the button to turn on / off the screen that has a built-in fingerprint reader to unlock the mobile.
Design details of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
The screen is perforated in the upper central part to house the selfie camera in a place where it does not bother so much. This screen measures 6.67 inches and uses a A very colorful, bright and fluid AMOLED panel that allows you to watch videos, movies or series in Full HD + with wonderful quality. In addition, its refresh rate is 120 Hz, which means that it is extremely fast. It supports games up to 120 FPS.
The maximum brightness of the screen of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is 1200 nits, which is more than enough to see it without problems in bright environments. Another aspect that we like about this screen is its reading mode that reduces visual fatigue and mobile battery consumption. By the way, the box does not include tempered glass to reinforce the screen, but it does include the typical transparent silicone cover that all Xiaomi usually bring.
oh! And you should know that this Redmi has protection IP53 against dust and water. That means it won’t be easily damaged by dirt and it resists drops of water, but you can’t submerge it.
How is the camera of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G? It could be better
The camera of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is made up of a 108 MP main sensor, an 8 MP wide angle and a 2 MP macro. What disappointed us most about this camera is that does not allow recording in 4K or 60 FPSsomething that the Redmi Note 10 and practically any other modern mid-range mobile do. What is this about? To a processor limitation.
Actually, most users do not need 4K recording because almost all the videos that are recorded with the mobile are to be viewed on a mobile and because 4K resolution takes up too much storage space. For this reason, we usually all record in 720p or 1080p. Even so, for the price of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, it seems absurd to us that it is not capable of recording in 2160p or at 60 frames per second.
As for photography, the truth is that it has a very good quality. With enough light take incredible photos, very sharp and with perfectly represented colors. White balance is decent and dynamic range is okay, but has a lot of room for improvement. Its night mode illuminates night scenes well and offers acceptable results.
Photos taken with the camera of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
By default, the camera takes photos by “pixel binning”, but from the camera app settings you can force it to shoot in 108 MP mode (without combining the pixels). While this mode is best for professional photo editing and zooming, we don’t recommend it for everyday use because it makes photos darker with less vivid colors.
Its ultra wide angle and macro sensors comply, but its results are nothing extraordinary. In general, the rear camera of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is quite good, without being one of the best in this range. Likewise, its 16 MP selfie camera did not seem bad to us, far from it, but it gives the feeling that it stays halfway.
The performance of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G will not give you problems
One of the most criticized points of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Global is its Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. For being bad? No, because the Chinese version of this mobile uses the MediaTek Dimensity 920 which it exceeds by almost 100000 points in AnTuTu, and also offers on average about 5 FPS more in most games. In simpler words, the arrival on the global market has not been good for the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.
Beyond the comparisons, the performance of this smartphone is very good. It does not stick at any time with applications, it goes perfectly with social networks and messaging apps, the main interface flows very well, etc. It allows you to play all the TOP Android games (Fortnite, Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, among others) with medium-high graphic quality and at around 25-30 FPS.
Admitting that this is not a device worthy of the most demanding gamers, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G performs well and will not give you problems. You can get it with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and with 64 or 128 GB of storage (expandable up to 1 TB with microSD).
Software and hardware information of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
As with its brothers, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G comes from the factory with MIUI 13 based on Android 11. We thought it would come with Android 12 for being a 2022 smartphone, But it has not been the case. And this bothers us a lot because, while it will surely update to Android 12 soon, it will most likely only receive two software updates and stay on Android 13. That is, it will have a very short Android support.
For the rest, we have no more complaints about the mobile. Has NFC, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and all the connectivities you use on a day-to-day basis.
The best thing about the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G battery is that it charges very quickly
The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G guarantees you an autonomy of 1 day and a little more thanks to its 5000 mAh battery. The highlight in this section is the 67 W charger included in the box with which you can fill 50% of the battery in just 15 minutes. To get to 100%, it takes just 42 minutes.
Supports QuickCharge 3+ and Power Delivery 3.0 fast charging technologies, but does not support wireless charging.
Our opinion of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G: a great quality / price mobile … if you catch it on sale
If you want a 5G mobile with a 120 Hz AMOLED screen, good cameras, ultra-fast charging and decent performance, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G it is a very good option for less than 300 €. Preferably, grab it when it’s on sale because its starting price (€291) seems a bit expensive to us.
You can get it on AliExpress for €263 from February 16 to 17 (6 + 64 GB version) thanks to the launch promotion. For that price it is a bargain. Add it to the cart to buy it at 9:00 in the morning (time in Spain) because you already know that these bargains usually last a short time.
